An Ode to Athens
I came upon a beautiful museum today dedicating a photography exhibit to the inspiring folk of Athens [GA] music; the potluck of musicians. I felt inspired and in awe, so I decided to write a poem about it. Also included are some photographs of the memorabilia…

The fervor of the college town, in this center of Greece
Lies underneath: a whimsical generational hearth,
A fire that has been dimmed but not vanquished,
And from this, a spark to illuminate the darkened paths of those who meet it.
The pillars of these gods, and those who aspire to be seen,
Are in safe arms as long as the lyre stays in tune—in harmony.
This musical expression cannot only be heard, but felt in its most Dionysian way.
In this underbelly, covered by the fallacious, the sentiment of the material heretics
That choose but not to see, but disbelieve, is merely a shame.
Love Athena, love Athena, love Athena.
